The area around the Adventure Mine in Tuna-Hästberg outside Borlänge is clearly marked by 600 years of mining.

80 meters deep shafts are only a few steps from the road.

- On our land there are about three kilometers of fence as protection around the mine holes.

Of them, perhaps 300 meters need to be replaced or repaired, says Daniel Karlsson, operations manager at Äventyrsgruvan.

Just step over the fence

Despite warning signs, the mine holes attract curious, and in some cases drunk, young people who get past the fences through previously cut holes or where trees have fallen over the fence so that it is only a matter of stepping over.

This year alone, there have been five incidents where the company's alarm revealed the intrusion.

- We have taken them every time.

But there have also been parents with children who could not help but step over the broken fences, says Daniel Karlsson.

Can not take care of the fence himself

After an incident where several children were playing at the edge of a hole and a child fell over, Daniel alerted the police.

Fortunately, the child fell only a few meters that time.

- Then I felt that when an accident really happens, I want to know that I sounded the alarm.

But that was five years ago and nothing has happened.

But if the police are late, why do not you fix the fences yourself?

- We have fixed the fence that is directly adjacent to us and it cost a lot of money.

We do not have the financial opportunities to take care of so much fencing, says Daniel Karlsson.
