The UAE sends two planes carrying food and medical supplies to Ethiopia and the Tigray region

Over the past two days, the UAE has sent two planes carrying 34 tons of food and medical supplies to Ethiopia, including a trip to the Ethiopian capital, Addis Ababa, and another trip to the Tigray region, as part of the continuous relief air bridge to meet the growing needs of the population, especially from the most needy groups. Women and children, and families facing difficult situations and great humanitarian challenges, as a result of the lack of basic foodstuffs and the necessary medical support.

The sending of relief aid comes within the framework of the UAE's continuous efforts to provide all aspects of support to countries facing special hardship, including women and children, and to contribute to providing basic needs for food and medicine.

During the last period, the UAE operated an air bridge that included sending 18 planes of relief supplies, including 9 planes to the Ethiopian capital, Addis Ababa, carrying 420 tons of relief and food materials, and 9 planes to the city of Mekele in Tigray region, carrying 280 tons. 1.2 million people are among the most affected groups, including 960,000 children and women.

It is worth noting that the UAE has provided $85 million to support relief operations in Ethiopia in cooperation with international organizations.
