The competition has previously gone under the name Musik Direkt and has produced stars such as Laleh, Tusse and Malena Ernman.
It was newly started a few years ago as Imagine Sweden and now it is back in Östergötland.
The competition is for artists who are between 13-21 years old.
"Hunt the stars"
- It is a chance for those who want to chase the stars and also for those who want to try, says Eva Lundgren Stenbom.
At the regional competition in Norrköping, four acts compete for a place in the national final in Eskilstuna.
They compete before a jury consisting of five experienced musicians.
The winner will not be crowned during Friday's competition, but will be done at a later stage.
Not just a music competition
Östgötamusiken and Stage Skandia are collaborating on the project.
In addition to the music competition, there will be workshops, lectures and talks for young people who want to develop in music.
What are the hopes for the evening?
- It is that the young people should feel supported, safe and have fun, says Eva Lundgren Stenbom.
The competition starts at 6.30 pm at Stage Skandia in Norrköping.
