A tough but fair punishment.

The town hall of Fontaine (Isère) recently decided to withdraw its subsidy of more than 16,000 euros from its football club, AS Fontaine, after violence that occurred following a match, reports

Le Dauphiné

.

The facts date back to February 6 in Saint-Romans (Isère).

While the Fontenois met US Ro-Claix, the leader of this club was attacked at the end of the match during a fight.

The 32-year-old man suffered serious stab wounds to the face.

The alleged attacker and his brother soon to be tried

According to the first elements, the aggressor would be a player from AS Fontaine.

The latter received a 20-year suspension from the club and he was, with his brother who participated in the brawl, sent back to the Grenoble Criminal Court for "violence in meetings and with a weapon".

"It seemed important to us to take stock with the club of its objectives and new ambitions before awarding a grant," said Franck Longo, mayor of Fontaine, at

Other aid could, however, emerge.
