On April 27, the Taiwan Affairs Office of the State Council held a regular press conference.

A reporter asked: According to Taiwan media reports, Taiwan's defense department announced on the 26th the time and content of this year's "Hanguang No. 38" exercise, based on the so-called mainland's possible "violation of Taiwan", and discussed various combat readiness issues with reference to the Russian-Ukrainian conflict.

Does the spokesperson have any comment on this?

In this regard, Ma Xiaoguang said that the nature of the DPP authorities is to seek "independence", and seeking "independence" must be provocative.

One manifestation of provocation is an attempt to use external forces to embolden oneself.

But it turns out that external forces are simply unreliable.

Another manifestation is the fantasy of "seeking independence by force".

As far as Taiwan's weapons and equipment and the level of Taiwan's military exercises are concerned, even a layman like me can't see it.

If they do this, it can only be a dead end.

It doesn't matter if the DPP authorities find their own way. They should not kidnap 23 million people in Taiwan as hostages and as cannon fodder.

We also appeal to our compatriots in Taiwan not to be deceived. Only by returning to the right track of peaceful development of cross-strait relations can compatriots on both sides of the strait share peace, prosperity, development and a good life together.
