One of the world's youngest foreign ministers... Bilawal Bhutto appointed as Pakistan's foreign minister

Bilawal Bhutto Zardari, 33, the son of former Pakistani Prime Minister Benazir Bhutto who was assassinated in 2007, was officially appointed yesterday as Foreign Minister in the new government headed by Shahbaz Sharif.

He is also the son of former President Asif Ali Zardari and grandson of former Prime Minister Zulfikar Ali Bhutto, who was executed in 1979.

The 33-year-old, who studied at Oxford University, became one of the world's youngest foreign ministers.

Upon being sworn in as Foreign Minister, the son of former President Asif Ali Zardari and grandson of former Prime Minister Zulfikar Ali Bhutto (executed in 1979) tweeted that he would work with his party (Pakistan People's Party) "to do our part to restore democracy." Through electoral reforms, the struggle for a fairer economy, and the strengthening of Pakistan's standing in the international arena."

The new foreign minister will make his first trip abroad today, accompanying the prime minister on a three-day official visit to Saudi Arabia, Pakistan's main trading partner and often financial supporter of its economy.
