A fire, in an apartment on boulevard Wilson, in Antibes, killed one person this Thursday afternoon, indicates the Departmental Fire and Rescue Service (Sdis) of the Alpes-Maritimes.

The victim was disabled, according to Nice-Matin.

Firefighters, alerted around 3:30 p.m. to thick black smoke emanating from a balcony on the third floor, discovered the body in the accommodation which was on fire.

Two other people taken to hospital

The control of the disaster, which required the deployment of several lances and an "important device", was done at the same time as evacuations, specifies Sdis 06.

Seven residents had to be extracted from the building by the large ladder and, in total, sixteen people were examined by the medical service of the firefighters.

Two were taken to hospital in relative emergency.
