The Charlottagården nursing home, which was renamed Hultgårdsvägen 7, was expected to open in the spring of 2022, but now the municipal board has decided to postpone the reopening of the home until earlier this autumn.

Chairman of the social committee, Rolf Lindström (M) says that one of the main reasons for the delay is delivery problems of security alarms.

- We have made a decision in the social committee now to postpone the move of the homes to week 34 this autumn due to the fact that we have a component shortage for our alarms, and since it is a security issue for the home, we have therefore chosen not to open up until we have a well-functioning alarm function in place.

Problems getting staff together

Another reason why the social welfare board has chosen to postpone the reopening is due to the fact that the staff recruited will not be available until the end of the summer.

- Staff recruitment has gone well and it should be ready in the middle of the summer.

By week 34, we will have a staff that can meet the requirements we have.

They must be 12 employed people who work here with the six users for whom there is room.

So in retrospect with all the discussions and problems with the reopening that have been around this accommodation, was it right to close the accommodation in 2019?

- Every now and then it was the right decision, all decisions we make must be based on what the needs are.

But to get a better control over this, we have done a housing investigation every year, where we see how the migration flows of our elderly are within the municipality and based on that report, we can then make decisions based on our future elderly housing.

On Monday 2 May, the nursing home Hultgårdsvägen 7 (formerly Charlottagården) will have an inauguration for its premises.
