"The prosecutor's office of the Lazarevsky district organized an investigation into the death of a 12-year-old chess player in the city of Sochi," the statement says.

It is noted that the 12-year-old girl came with her mother to the chess tournament in Sochi from Saratov.

In her free time, she went out for a walk and through the fence of the fenced area with the gate closed to the lock she saw the puppies, then climbed over to feed them.

After that, a shepherd dog attacked her, inflicted injuries incompatible with life.

Earlier, the Russian Chess Federation (RCF) reported that children's chess tournaments in Loo were stopped ahead of schedule due to the death of one of the participants in the competition.

In January, it was reported that investigators opened a criminal case into the death of a seven-year-old girl in the Chita district of the Trans-Baikal Territory as a result of an attack by dogs.
