The plenary session of the National Assembly to deal with the 'check-and-run' bill will be held on the afternoon of the 27th.

National Assembly Speaker Park Byeong-seok convened a plenary session at 5 pm today.

Chairman Park is expected to present to the plenary session the amendments to the Prosecutor's Office Act and the Criminal Procedure Act, which were passed by the Legislative and Judiciary Committee yesterday.

In the early morning of the Judiciary Committee, the Democratic Party of Korea voted to amend the Prosecutor's Office Act and the Criminal Procedure Act to separate the prosecution's investigative and prosecuting powers.

In response, the People's Power protested that the decision of the Judiciary Committee was made in violation of the National Assembly law procedures, such as 'change of order', and that it was null and void.

The power of the people right now is expected to do a filibuster (unlimited discussion) to block the passage of the bill, so an extreme confrontation between the ruling and opposition parties is expected at the plenary session.

The floor leaders of both parties held last-minute discussions at a meeting mediated by Chairman Park this afternoon, but ultimately failed to reach a point of contact.

At a briefing after the meeting, Democratic Party floor leader Park Hong-geun said, "I repeatedly emphasized to the chairman to convene a plenary session today. did," he said.

People's Power Floor Leader Kwon Seong-dong said, "The chairman has heard that there is a change in the positions of both parties on the Inspection and Overhaul Act, and he sees that no further adjustment is possible."
