Last Friday, a woman was found in a mining hole at Långgruvan in Norberg.

After an extensive rescue effort, the woman could be pulled out of the hole and she was taken by helicopter to Falun for treatment.

In one place, there were two meter high fences that will act as protection around the mine hole trampled this weekend.

According to information from a resident in the area, who wishes to remain anonymous, the condition of the fence has been bad for a long time.

At the place where the woman was found, Sveaskog is the landowner.

- We do not inspect fences around the mine holes on an ongoing basis.

We identify them when we plan our forest measures in the vicinity and we make a review in connection with that, says Bruno Bystrand, results area manager at Sveaskog.

Reports to the police

Sveaskog itself does not carry out measures at the mine holes.

They refer to a ruling in the Stockholm Court of Appeal from last year which gave the responsibility to the county administrative board in Uppsala to ensure that two mining objects would be fenced in.

- When we discover that there are deficient fences or no fences at all, we notify the police and they take the matter further to the county administrative board, says Bruno Bystrand.

A man in his 40s is in custody for the act on the woman, suspected of probable cause for rape and attempted murder.

The man denies the crime, according to the prosecutor.
