The controversial change of rule promoted yesterday by Meritxell Batet to reduce the majorities necessary to become part of the official secrets commission of Congress, and thus give entry to ERC and EH Bildu, will lead to the presence of two more pro-independence parties in this space.

Well, in addition to the two mentioned, the

Plural Group

and the

Mixed Group

propose that their representatives be the spokespersons for

Junts per Catalunya

and the

CUP

.

If, in the vote held this Thursday in the plenary session of Congress, these two political forces obtain the 176 votes in favor that the new rule now calls for, instead of the 210 that were required before, it will mean that Carles Puigdemont's party and the anti-capitalists have a seat in the commission in which accounts of the reserved funds and the activities of the

CNI are rendered.

It is the sensitive and secret nature of what is told there that had caused the PP, Vox and Ciudadanos to have raised a veto against the entry of ERC and, above all, of EH Bildu in this commission from the beginning of the legislature.

And that, thanks to the fact that they had enough votes to block their election, preventing them from reaching three fifths.

It is the reason that has prevented for almost three years that it could be constituted and started up.

It has been now, when the Government has been cornered by the independence parties due to the

Pegasus case

, when Moncloa has pushed Batet to change the rules to seek a way out of the pressure from its partners and not give in to the creation of a commission of inquiry as they are being sued for.

The maneuver has been to lower the majority necessary to deactivate the requirement of consensus between the PSOE and the PP for the election of any member of the commission.

It has gone from asking for three fifths (210 votes) to demanding an absolute majority (176).

This change, designed to give entry to ERC and EH Bildu, as parties that have their own parliamentary group in Congress, will also help Junts and the CUP to gain access.

In their cases, on behalf of the Plural Group and the Mixed Group.

Junts because it is the majority party of those that make up their group, which includes the

PDeCAT,

Más País,

Compromís

and the

BNG

.

Parliamentary sources have confirmed that its spokesperson,

Miriam Nogueras

, will be the person who will be proposed and put to the vote.

As for the CUP, the sources consulted indicate that it was up to them by quota in the distribution that the parties of the Mixed Group have agreed for their operation.

However, there has been an internal vote because there were parties that questioned it.

The result is that the CUP has won the vote for

Albert Botran

to be the name proposed to represent the group.

The two deputies from

Navarra Suma

, Carlos García Adanero and Sergio Sayas;

the one from

Foro Asturias

, Isidro Martínez Oblanca, and the former

Citizens

deputy Pablo Cambronero have voted against.

However, the CUP has obtained a majority thanks to its two deputies and the support of the parliamentarians of

the Regionalist Party of Cantabria (PRC)

,

Nueva Canarias

,

Canarian Coalition

and the former deputy of United We Can

Meri Pita

, parliamentary sources report.

In this way, and if there is no last-minute change of script due to the defection of PSOE deputies,

Gabriel Rufián

(ERC),

Mertxe Aizpurua

(EH Bildu), Nogueras (Junts) and Botran (CUP) will be able to attend the commission of official secrets and listen in person to the explanations that the director of the CNI,

Paz Esteban

, will give very soon

about the

Pegasus case

.
