Members of the Bundestag will receive a good 300 euros more per month from July.

According to a letter published on Wednesday by Parliament President Bärbel Bas (SPD), the so-called parliamentary allowance will increase by 3.1 percent from the current €10,012.89 to €10,323.29 per month.

The news portal “The Pioneer” reported about it first.

It was only shortly before Christmas that the Bundestag decided to automatically link the MPs' allowances to general wage developments, as has been the case up to now.

The sum that the parliamentarians receive monthly is thus adjusted every year on July 1st - analogous to the wage increase calculated by the Federal Statistical Office.

Higher diets than last year

In addition to the parliamentary allowance, the parliamentarians are granted a tax-free expense allowance of EUR 4,583.39 per month.

This can be used, for example, for a second place of residence in Berlin or the constituency office.

Due to the corona pandemic, the diets for representatives of the people had fallen last year.

This was due to the loss of earnings for workers.
