The tragedy occurred last night on the A43 motorway between Chambéry and Lyon.

Three highway agents who were carrying out a beaconing operation were hit head-on by a vehicle.

A 54-year-old man died, another was airlifted in absolute emergency to a hospital in Lyon.

The last victim, more slightly injured, was evacuated to a hospital in Bourguoin Jallieu.
