This is reported by RIA Novosti with reference to the press service of the lower house of the Belarusian parliament.

“The draft law “On amendments to the Criminal Code of the Republic of Belarus” was adopted in two readings.

The draft law proposes amendments to the Criminal Code of the Republic of Belarus, providing for the possibility of applying an exceptional measure of punishment in the form of the death penalty for an attempt to commit acts of terrorism.

According to BelTA, Chairman of the House of Representatives Vladimir Andreichenko during the meeting stressed that one of the most serious threats to the security and stability of any society is terrorism.

“Trying to stir up the situation in Belarus, provoke domestic instability and conflicts, destructive forces continue their terrorist, extremist activities aimed at killing people.

Without stopping at anything, actions are being taken to disable railway equipment and tracks, objects of strategic importance, set fire to residential buildings, blow up vehicles in places of mass recreation and crowds, ”he said.

According to him, this requires tough and effective measures to prevent and combat terrorism in all its forms and manifestations.
