Seven minors suspected of having committed damage to a historic monument in Valence (Drôme) were arrested on Monday.

Under the age of 16, they were found in the Villa Gayet, also called the Château de Valensolles, reports Le Dauphiné.

They attack the owner

This villa, built in 1907 and listed as a Historic Monument, contains many works of art and rare stained glass windows.

The suspects destroyed numerous mirrors and stained glass windows as well as a marble table before attacking the owner of the premises, who gave the alert.

Due to their age, the young people were not taken into custody and were handed over to their parents by the police.

The owner of the villa filed a complaint for damage and assault.

An investigation is underway.
