The administrations of private schools in Sharjah decided to diversify the school's end dates, to reduce traffic congestion on the roads.

The streets of the Muwailih area have witnessed heavy traffic jams during the past days, due to the students leaving school buildings at close times, after returning to receive in-person education.

The start of the third semester coincided with the holy month of Ramadan, which doubled the hardship of the time students spend inside their families’ vehicles, or on school buses, before they can return home late for their daily schedule.

School administrations said, in text messages they sent to the students’ families, that they decided to change the end of school hours during the month of Ramadan, while other schools kept their usual timing since the beginning of the current academic year. The stifling traffic crisis begins after school hours are over and students leave schools at the same time, during rush hour.

They explained that the streets of the private schools area in Muwailih are witnessing congestion in front of schools and on all roads leading to the industrial area, to Sheikh Mohammed bin Zayed Road, and to Muwailih Road, whether at traffic intersections or roundabouts, especially the roundabout of the Holy Quran Complex, which is witnessing a complete closure as a result of the presence of Maintenance and closing part of the roundabout to regulate traffic.

They indicated that they submitted requests to school administrations to consider changing the time for students to leave after the end of school hours, provided that the exit of bus students is separated from those who are waiting for their relatives' vehicles to reduce the traffic crisis, in addition to the adoption by each school of a different time for students to leave, especially since the schools are adjacent to each other. Which leads to traffic jams, whether for those coming to take their children or for vehicles on the way back.

They pointed out that the traffic crisis delayed the arrival of their children to homes for more than an hour, which exposed them and their children to exhaustion and fatigue as a result of fasting.

For their part, school administrations indicated that school buses were allowed to leave first, and that they organized the exit of students in school stages consecutively to reduce traffic congestion.

The Sharjah Private Education Authority confirmed that securing traffic safety for students and parents is one of its most important priorities, noting that a coordination meeting was held with the strategic partners in the Roads and Transport Authority and the Sharjah Police General Command, to consult on traffic safety requirements to ensure the smooth flow of traffic and confront the heavy congestion of vehicles in the surrounding areas. schools, achieving security and safety on the roads, and discussing some proposed solutions and the possibility of implementing them.

It stated that traffic is passable in all areas, despite the presence of vehicles on the roads, except for the vicinity of Muwailih, which is experiencing congestion due to its narrow geographical space, and vehicles entering and exiting at the same time, as there are 23 schools, with more than 49,465 students. A student.

She emphasized the continuous coordination with Sharjah Police, the Roads and Transport Authority and the administrations of private schools, to avoid overcrowding and provide supportive solutions and services for schools, pointing to the traffic plans it sets at the beginning of each semester to make the year free of accidents, in addition to awareness campaigns targeting parents, drivers and supervisors in schools.

The authority called on the students’ families to abide by the regulations and rules of traffic and on the right path, during the transfer of students, and to avoid wrong parking in all its forms, and to commit to standing in the waiting place while students leave schools, in order to avoid the accumulation of cars in front of the school gates, and to avoid committing wrong traffic behavior that negatively affects the school gates. road user safety.
