The UN called on the US authorities to unlock the assets of the Central Bank of Afghanistan

“The already critical situation is aggravated by measures introduced by the United States ... UN experts called on the United States ... to reconsider its decision to block the foreign assets of the Central Bank of Afghanistan,” the UN said in a statement.

On February 11, it became known that US President Joe Biden signed a decree blocking $ 7 billion of assets of the Central Bank of Afghanistan stored in US banks.

Afghan assets held in US bank accounts have been sent to a single special trust fund at the Federal Reserve Bank of New York.
