"I'm picking flowers. I like them."

She looks soft and has just evacuated to a city in western Ukraine to escape the Russian attack.

A photo exhibition that captures the casual expressions of each person living in Ukraine is being held.

Each person's facial expression

The picture of a woman holding a yellow flower was in the western city of Lviv.

When asked about the military invasion by Russia, he answered:

"I can't escape abroad. Do I need to escape? Ukraine is my home."

At the venue in Shibuya, Tokyo, there were 18 photographs centered on portraits taken in various parts of Ukraine, and the people who were the subjects. The spoken words are also on display.

The photo was taken by photographer Hironori Kodama.

I entered Ukraine for about a month from March, and I took pictures of my facial expressions while listening to the stories of the younger generation who stayed in the country.

During his stay, he sometimes witnessed the terrible damage and woke up with the sound and vibration of attacks, but he still wanted to look at each person in front of him.

It's important to be casual

One student was the first to listen to the story in Ukraine.

He seems to be working part-time to deliver supplies to the military and others because he has "time" because the classes have been canceled due to the war.

After a while, I took a picture of his hobby when I went fishing with him.

He says he said:

"Being with my family, food, water, fresh air. I think it's very important that I don't usually think about it."

Was this day a dull fishing result?

"There should be fish."

To cling to "everyday"

A young man riding a bicycle and his partner.

This is a picture taken in the city of Kieu that was attacked.

The young man said, "Her uncle's house was burned by an airstrike. Recently, I'm just thinking about how to survive."

"But I'm crazy about motorcycles, so I'll never forget that."

I was shooting with my smartphone how I decided on my bicycle skills in the city square.

It seems to Kodama that he was clinging to what he had done so far, as if to regain the peaceful life he had been robbed of.

Dreams are being robbed

In the photo, there is a young man's face looking into the distance with a slight loneliness while being illuminated by the setting sun.

This is the word of this young man.

"I have a dream for the future. Now I want the war to end soon and everyone can live in peace. After that, I want to make my dream come true."

Hironori Kodama, who took the picture, says, "Each person has a life and a dream for the future. I want you to feel the reality that it is being robbed by power."

The photo exhibition is being held at "Gallery Conceal Shibuya" in Shibuya, Tokyo until May 1st.
