Emmanuel Macron was re-elected this Sunday as President of the Republic with 58.54% of the vote against Marine Le Pen (41.46%), a clear victory tempered by the notably tight gap with the far right and one abstention high (28.01%).
The head of state began his new mandate on Monday aware that he will have a hard time dealing with a fractured France and opponents already on a war footing seven weeks before the legislative elections.
Since their respective elimination in the presidential election, the oppositions of left and right have been calling on the French to deprive Emmanuel Macron of a majority in the legislative ballot which is to be held on June 12 and 19.

While the Insoumis have already started discussions with Europe Ecologie Les Verts (EELV), the Communist Party, and the NPA, the formation of Jean-Luc Mélenchon, who came third in the presidential election with nearly 22% of the vote, had initially shown reluctance to discuss with the PS.
A first meeting date was finally scheduled for Wednesday, Manuel Bompard, head of negotiators for LFI, told AFP.
"A first step that we welcome," confirmed Pierre Jouvet, in charge of negotiations within the PS.
