During the summer of 2021, a conflict in Malmö's criminal world was about to result in another fatal shooting.

But after three men could be arrested after an insane journey through Malmö, the plans were stopped.

It appears in a prosecution that was submitted to Malmö District Court on Tuesday.

Five men in Malmö's criminal world are charged with having been part of a murder plot against a man in his 35s.

But in the investigation, there are several possible targets.

Allied against common enemy

According to the indictment, the men, all between 23 and 29 years old, have allied themselves against a common enemy: the 35-year-old man.

Two of the accused have been singled out as leading figures in Malmö's criminal world, but are said to have belonged to various criminal networks.

But the murder plans could be stopped when three of the men were arrested in a car in Limhamn.

The arrest was preceded by a seven-kilometer insane journey through Malmö, where the suspects drove at a red light, in the opposite direction and past several refuges.

Police could see how the suspects allegedly threw weapons out of the car.

- The murder plans were stopped by three people being arrested on Utsiktsvägen after a long follow-up by the police.

The police in a painted police car noticed a car and turned to drive after, when the car suddenly tried to drive away from them, prosecutor Magdalena Tesfai says.

Be part of the "Stop shooting" project

The prosecutor points out two of the accused as leading figures in Malmö's criminal world and that they were in various criminal networks in an active conflict.

Some of the plans have been read off with the help of the police gaining access to encrypted chat messages.

A large part of the evidence presented by the prosecutor is about showing that several of the accused men were part of an active conflict and expressed concern for their safety.

There are also DNA traces on weapons and in the car in which the suspects were arrested.

The leaders and several of the accused men, including the intended victim, were part of the police's Stop shooting project to cool down gang conflicts and bring down the fatal shootings.

All defendants deny the crime.

The background to the conflict is unknown.

- The background and the conflict will hopefully be highlighted in connection with the interrogations of suspects and witnesses at the main hearing, says Magdalena Tesfai.
