Re-elected President Emmanuel Macron went to thank his teams late Tuesday afternoon at his Paris campaign headquarters, calling on them to "inspire, enthuse" and "continue the fight" in view of the June legislative elections.

"What collectively you have accomplished is unprecedented. Normally, statistically, historically, we had no chance. No chance. But we did it", he underlined in front of several dozen activists, on the terrace of the headquarters. of the campaign, according to one participant.

Outside the period of cohabitation, Emmanuel Macron is the only outgoing president re-elected under the Fifth Republic, as his lieutenants often point out.

This visit to his campaign headquarters in the 8th arrondissement of Paris is his first outing since the victorious evening on Sunday and his speech at the Champ-de-Mars.

“We will have to continue to bring the country together”

"It was very difficult because I asked you to campaign in a very complicated context, when I could not be a candidate as much as I wanted," he added, in a reference to the war in Ukraine.

“In the weeks to come, we will have to win, inspire, enthuse and continue to bring the country together on the project that is ours around the pact sealed with the French on April 10 and 24,” Emmanuel Macron again asked.

"With Brigitte (his wife who accompanied him, editor's note), we know what we owe you, to you who have worked day and night for months and months. Be proud and continue to lead the fight", a-t he still pleaded.

When he left, a full hour later, LREM number one Stanislas Guerini spoke to the press about "very simple, very sincere words" from the Head of State, and said he was waiting for the legislative elections "a moment of confirmation and stock".
