An auction of prestigious wines was organized this Saturday at the Château du Clos de Vougeot (Côte-d'Or).

The buyers spent a total of 852,750 euros to acquire wines offered by 24 wine estates in the department.

The funds thus collected will contribute to the preservation and renovation of the meeting room of the abbey of Cîteaux (Côte-d'Or).

Charity dinner

It has been classified as a monument in danger by the Heritage Foundation, indicates France Bleu Bourgogne.

The total cost of the work was estimated at 15 million euros.

The auction was accompanied by a charity dinner also intended to raise money.

Participating wine estates donated part of their production.

It will be used in particular to concoct a Clos de Vougeot Grand Cru 2020 called Cuvée de Cîteaux.

570 liters of this wine, bottled next September, were divided into 113 lots during the sale.

A Nebuchadnezzar of this cuvée was sold for 55,000 euros.
