  Blinken also said that U.S. President Joe Biden will announce the nomination of veteran diplomat Bridget Brink as the next U.S. ambassador to Ukraine.

  Brinker has served as the U.S. ambassador to Slovakia since 2019.

Previously, she served on U.S. agencies in Serbia, Cyprus, Georgia, and Uzbekistan, as well as on the White House National Security Council.

  Blinken said a small staff of the now-closed U.S. embassy in Ukraine had moved to Poland from a makeshift office in the western Ukrainian city of Lviv.

He added that the United States has accelerated the review of the security situation in Kiev, and the State Department will reopen the U.S. embassy in Ukraine as soon as the situation permits.

  Earlier on February 12, local time, the U.S. State Department ordered the evacuation of all non-emergency staff from the embassy in Ukraine, and the embassy's consular services were stopped on the 13th.

  On February 14, Blinken announced the closure of the embassy in Ukraine and a "temporary transfer" of the few diplomatic personnel remaining in Ukraine to the western city of Lviv.
