Algeria always affirms that it adopts a neutral position in the Libyan crisis, but in the showdown between the two governments, it supports that of Dbeibah, which is, according to it, legal because recognized by the international community.
It therefore refuses the
Bachagha government
, the ally of Marshal Khalifa Haftar supported by Egypt and whose relations with Algiers have always been complicated.
According to several observers, the new Algerian position is the consequence of the lightning visit to Algiers on April 18 by Abdel Hamid Dbeibah, the Prime Minister who still refuses to cede power to the new government appointed by Parliament.
The Algerian president underlined the differences between Algeria and "
certain countries
" that he did not name on the position to adopt to get out of the Libyan crisis: "
We had the same position, until the appointment of a new government by Parliament
”.
Relations between Cairo and Algiers seem tense and the differences of opinion on the Libyan crisis appear clearly, especially when Cairo sees Algiers receiving and supporting Dbeibah instead of convincing him to cede power.
