Public Health France reports 13,984 cases of contamination with the SARS-CoV2 virus, a figure traditionally low after the weekend, because it takes into account the results of the day before, when many laboratories and pharmacies are closed.

The average of infections over the last seven days, which smooths out statistical jolts, stands at 75,297, against 76,130 on Sunday and 116,852 a week ago.

Hospitals had 24,980 patients with Covid-19, compared to 24,888 the day before and 24,990 a week ago.

Of these 24,980 patients, 1,659 were in critical care (which receives the most serious cases), against 1,635 on Monday April 18.

The epidemic has caused the death of 196 people in 24 hours, bringing the total number of deaths in France to 145,257 in just over two years.
