Nice operation for Elon Musk.

The multi-billionaire reached an agreement on Monday, April 25, to buy the social network Twitter for 44 billion dollars.

Discussions over the deal, which seemed uncertain last week, accelerated over the weekend after Elon Musk wooed shareholders of the million-user giant, laying out the financial details of his offer.

Under pressure, Twitter began negotiating with the US billionaire to buy the company at the proposed price of $54.20 per share.

"Free speech is the foundation of a functioning democracy, and Twitter is the digital public square where issues vital to the future of humanity are debated," Elon Musk said in a statement.
