The rescue service has forces from Kalmar and Rockneby on site at the burning apartment in Snurrom in northern Kalmar.
At present, it is unknown if any person has been injured in connection with the fire.
- It is a fully developed fire and there is a lot of smoke development.
There is a risk of spreading, says Monika Karlström, alarm operator at the Security and Alarm Center in Kalmar.
- The rescue service is on site and working full time to put out the fire.
People have been evacuated from the building who will be examined by ambulance personnel.
At present, it is unclear how the fire started or if the residents were at home when it started burning.

The police write on their website that they have units on site at the burning apartment to assist the rescue service during the firefighting work.
