After Emmanuel Macron's re-election on Sunday, the Minister of Health reacted, saying that this result "forces" the government.

Olivier Véran also assured that "the messages have been heard" and promised "a change of method" in order to consult the French more over the next five years.

The abstention and the "higher than ever" score of the National Rally "force us for the future", declared the Minister of Health Olivier Véran on BFMTV, affirming that "the messages have been heard" and promising "a change of method".

"The score is wide enough, we are not going to spoil the victory. Afterwards, that does not prevent us from seeing that the abstention is high and that the RN has the highest score ever, that obliges us for the future" , he said on the set of BFMTV.

"No continuity in the way of carrying out public action"

"There will be no continuity in the way of carrying out public action", continued the Minister of Health, assuring that "the messages have been heard" and promising for Emmanuel Macron's second five-year term "a change of method" to "concerte more (with) the French".

"We will change things on the method and on the substance", he further specified, in the perspective of the campaign for the legislative elections: "We have no room for error during the five years which are coming".

"We have to continue, there are the legislative elections", declared for his part the Minister of Justice Éric Dupond-Moretti on France 2. "We are happy, this is the first time that an outgoing president has been elected in these conditions, by universal suffrage, and excluding cohabitation", continued the Keeper of the Seals.
