Live Last minute of the Russian invasion of Ukraine
US Secretary of State
Anthony Blinken
and Defense Secretary
Lloyd Austin
have already arrived in Ukraine and are meeting with Ukrainian President
Volodymyr Zelensky.
This was confirmed by the adviser to the Ukrainian Presidency,
Oleksiy Arestovych,
on the Feygin Live program.
The Ukrainian president announced yesterday at a press conference the arrival today in Ukraine of the US Secretary of State and the head of the Pentagon, while expressing his hope that very soon the security situation will also allow the visit of the head of the White House,
Joe Biden.
Zelensky today thanked the president and the American people in a message on Twitter for
"the leadership in supporting Ukraine."
"Two months of heroic Ukrainian resistance to Russian aggression have passed," he recalled, adding that "today the Ukrainian people are united and strong, and the friendship and partnership between Ukraine and the United States are stronger than ever."
The day before, he had announced that during Blinken and Austin's visit they would talk about
the weapons that Ukraine needs
and about the pace of delivery.
He stated that "the United States is the world leader, so it sets the pace and tone for negotiations and aid."
In most cases, "it influences whether a certain European state or another can provide us with the weapons that are important to us" and that is why
the United States "is a strategic partner,"
he said.
