UN Secretary-General Antonio Guterres will visit Russia and Ukraine next week to meet with President Putin and President Zelensky respectively.

It is noteworthy whether an agreement between the two countries will be reached through Guterres' mediation efforts to end the war, which has been protracted for the second month in a series of casualties and refugees.

UN Deputy Spokesperson Eri Ganeko said Guterres will visit Moscow on the 26th to meet President Putin.

According to the United Nations and the Kremlin, Secretary-General Guterres will arrive in Moscow on the 26th to hold working-level discussions with Russian Foreign Minister Lavrov, have lunch together, and meet with President Putin.

However, details regarding the meeting between Guterres and President Putin were not disclosed.

Deputy Spokesperson Kaneko said, "I would like the Secretary-General to have a conversation about what can be done to bring peace to Ukraine," he said.

Secretary-General Guterres has called for a four-day 'humanitarian truce' on the occasion of Easter in the Russian Orthodox Church, but has yet to be accepted.

In a statement that followed, the UN said that Guterres had also decided to visit Ukraine on the 28th, two days after his visit to Russia.

Guterres will meet with President Zelensky after a working-level meeting with Foreign Minister Kuleva in Ukraine.

He will also meet with UN agency officials to discuss expanding humanitarian aid to the Ukrainian people, the UN added.
