The Mossos d'Esquadra are investigating the death of a 16-year-old minor this past morning after being hit by a car when he was riding an electric scooter on the B-224 road as he passed through Masquefa (Barcelona).

The deadly accident took place after midnight.

The minor was on the road with the scooter when he was hit by the car.

The agents investigate the circumstances of this outrage, as well as the responsibility of each one.

In this sense, the General Directorate of Traffic regulated the use of electric scooters a year ago and highlights that they are prohibited from using them in pedestrian areas or sidewalks, as well as on interurban roads.

The Servei Català de Trànsit indicated that the Mossos received the notice at 00:31 at night of this fatal incident at kilometer point 14 of the B-224 road.

Several patrols were activated as well as an ambulance from the Sistema d'Emergències Mèdiques (SEM) despite the fact that the victim died on the spot.

Agents launched an investigation to determine the cause of the accident.

It is the 45th victim on the interurban road network in Catalonia so far this year.
