It was security guards at the pub who alerted the police about the quarrel.

A man in his 40s had been injured in the face by another man with a stab wound.

The suspect had left the scene on foot.

- Several police patrols joined the scene and one of them found the suspect a few blocks away and he could be arrested, says Björn Öberg, the police's spokesperson.

The man, who is in his 30s, was later arrested on probable cause on suspicion of attempted murder.

Unclear sequence of events

According to the police, the injured man was awake and talkable and did not appear to be seriously injured.

- It is the violence that has been judged to have been used in the incident and the risks that make the classification at the moment an attempted murder.

This may change during the course of the investigation.

The police do not have a clear picture of the course of events yet and several investigative measures remain.

- Neither the owner nor the suspect have been particularly cooperative, says Björn Öberg.
