Do you know someone who has done something extra good for Swedish society? Since 1975, the honorary orders have only been awarded within the royal family and to foreign citizens who have done something good for Sweden, but that can now be changed. The citizen in Sweden who does something extra good for society should be able to be awarded an order as a reward, the government proposes.
Both authorities, organizations and private individuals must be able to nominate recipients who can receive this medal of honor.
No prize money is included.
The proposal must first be considered by the Constitution Committee before the Riksdag makes a decision.
In the clip, the author Herman Lindqvist explains how it worked once upon a time.
