China News Service, Seoul, April 23 (Liu Xu and Liu Jingni) April 23 is the 27th "World Reading Day". The Seoul Metropolitan Government of South Korea held the "Reading Seoul Plaza" event at the Seoul Plaza on the same day, marking the 27th "World Reading Day". The square reopened outdoor activities for the first time in two years.

According to reports, the event is the first open outdoor library event held in South Korea. It combines the three elements of books, performances and culture. It will be open every Friday and Saturday from April 23 to the end of October this year. The operation time is 11 to 16:00.

On the same day, a reporter from China News Agency came to Seoul Plaza and saw that the activity site consists of three areas: bookshelf area, reading area and activity area.

The eight colorful mobile bookshelves in the bookshelf area can hold more than 3,000 books, which are arranged according to the theme, and citizens can choose at will.

In the reading area, local citizens can read comfortably under the built parasols or beanbag sofas, or borrow cushions on the spot to enjoy reading in the sun with relatives and friends.

In addition, there are music booths around the activity area for citizens to enjoy light music while reading.

A Seoul citizen who took his children to read on a beanbag sofa told a reporter from China News Agency that he thought the reading activities here were very meaningful for the children.

He didn't like reading at first, but his wife believed that in order to bring children closer to books, we must first lead by example, so they also took this opportunity to enjoy reading with their children.

In this regard, the Seoul Metropolitan Culture Headquarters also expressed the hope that the "Reading Seoul Plaza" activity can bring the joy of reading to the citizens, and relieve everyone's depression due to the prolonged epidemic.

It is reported that starting from the 18th of this month, South Korea has fully lifted social distancing measures such as business hours for public gathering places and restrictions on members of private parties, events and gatherings, and people have begun to return to normal life.

On the 22nd, the temporary nucleic acid testing point in Seoul Plaza was terminated and demolished one after another.
