At 10 pm on Friday, work will begin on renovating the Tingstad tunnel.

The E6 between Olskroksmotet and Ringömotet will then be closed and be completely closed until Monday morning at 05.

The Tingstad tunnel will be renovated for a year and a half.

One tunnel tube is closed at a time and traffic is bidirectional through the other open tunnel tube.

The work means that many road users have to take other travel routes and there is a great risk of long queues on surrounding routes.

Long queues to wait

An estimated 125,000 cars travel through the tunnel every day and these will now be crammed into one pipe instead of two.

The renovation is expected to be completed in October 2023, so until then, motorists can expect a major traffic impact.

- Yes, there will be long queues.

It is impossible to handle these volumes without queues, says Stefan Frisk.

Closes off bridge

- During the closing weekend, we will also tear down a train bridge over the E6.

It will then be replaced by a new bridge, which will be part of the Western Link.

The construction of the new bridge will take about 15 months and means reduced passability through the work area between Gullbergsmotet and Olskroksmotet, mainly during several weekends when the number of lanes is reduced.
