The Russian Orthodox Church expects more favorable conditions for the meeting of Patriarch Kirill and the Pope

This was announced by the head of the Department for External Church Relations of the Moscow Patriarchate, Metropolitan Hilarion of Volokolamsk.

“We will wait for a more favorable time for this event.

The recent communication between the Pope and the Patriarch by means of remote communication was very warm and cordial.

It helped to discuss the most pressing issues, and we will leave the rest for the future,” he said.

The metropolitan added that due to the current situation, many difficulties would arise in its preparation: this concerns security, logistics, and public coverage of the meeting, RIA Novosti writes.

As Pope Francis said earlier, the Vatican canceled his meeting with the head of the Russian Orthodox Church, Patriarch Kirill, which was to be held in Jerusalem in June.
