Former New York Mayor Rudy Giuliani appeared on the "The Masked Singer" program last Wednesday night.

On Fox Reality, former President Donald Trump's personal lawyer wore a colorful clown-like outfit.

More than two months after the episode was taped and made headlines, "Fox" viewers were able to see the former New York City mayor's performance, as well as shocking and confusing reactions from host Nick Cannon, and judges Nicole Scherzinger, Ken Jeong, Jenny McCarthy and Robin Thicke.

"It's something that surprises us all that on this show he hosts Giuliani, who in recent years has been Trump's personal lawyer, dressed as Jack in the Box, and that's an interesting thing," Cannon said.

Giuliani said he took part in the show for his granddaughter, and sang a song by George Thoroughgood.

"This is definitely something I would have never guessed," Thicke said in response to Giuliani's removal of the mask on his face.

There was anticipation in the media and popular circles for the date of Giuliani's appearance in the controversial competition.

There was an immediate backlash from people who were angry that the fired lawyer had been given a chance to increase his time in the spotlight, or try to redeem his reputation through reality TV.

It happens every time a former Trump White House employee does something similar.

In 2018, Omarosa Manigault Newman starred on CBS' Celebrity Big Brother and admitted some regrets that she worked in the West Wing with her former boss.

Giuliani said he wanted his granddaughter to know that "you should try everything", even things she might think were "different and unlikely".
