With the local elections 40 days away on June 1, Rep. Kim Eun-hye has been confirmed as the candidate for the People's Power Gyeonggi governor.

There is an interpretation that the so-called 'Yoon Shim' worked when Rep. Kim, who was the spokesperson for Yoon Seok-yeol, defeated former lawmaker Yoo Seung-min, who was the presidential candidate.

Reporter Yoo Soo-hwan reports.

Kim Eun-hye, who was called the 'mouth' of the elected Yoon Seok-yeol, was selected as the candidate for the People's Power Gyeonggi governor by defeating the fourth-term former lawmaker Yoo Seung-min.

[Kim Eun-hye / People's Power Rep.: I am confident that I will win any candidate in the Democratic Party.

I will take one more step than anyone else...

.]

In the primary, in which 50% of the votes from responsible party members and 50% of the general public opinion polls were each reflected, Rep. Kim won a majority of 52.7%, despite a 5% deduction for running for an active member of the National Assembly.

In the last presidential election, Rep. Kim received attention as a so-called 'Daejang-dong sniper', and until recently after the election, he served as a spokesperson for Yoon Seok-yeol, raising his awareness.

Former Rep. Yoo, who competed with Yoon-elect in the intra-party presidential primary, outranked Rep. Kim in general public opinion polls, but was greatly pushed out of the party's mind and faced difficulties.

After the defeat, former lawmaker Yoo wrote on SNS, "I lost in a contest that was neither fair nor commonsense, and I lost in a confrontation with the elected Yoon Seok-yeol. The end of power is amazing."

In particular, "It's the same as when the detectives danced their swords, referring to the 2016 Park Geun-hye administration's nomination scandal."

It is interpreted that the controversy over 'Yunshim', such as the successive declarations of support for Rep. Kim by the party association chairpersons raised in the process of the primary, was directly hit.

Kim Dong-yeon, former representative of the new wave, Ahn Min-seok, Jo Jung-shik, and former Suwon Mayor Yeom Tae-young were voted out as candidates for the Gyeonggi governor who will face Rep. Kim.

The first primary contest will be held for four days from today (22nd) to 25th, and if there is no candidate receiving a majority, a runoff will be held from the 27th to the 30th.
