• 'Espionage case' Aragonès sets as a condition to maintain the relationship with the Government that an investigation commission be created

  • Government Could the CNI have legally spied on the independence leaders?

ERC, EH Bildu, BNG, CUP, JxCat, PDeCAT, Más País and Compromís.

There are already eight parliamentary forces willing to tighten the screws on the Government to clarify the espionage carried out through the infiltration of the Pegasus program in the mobile devices of 65 people related to the independence cause, including four presidents of the Generalitat, two presidents of Parliament and four deputies in Congress.

Forming a common front, these formations have already registered the request for appearance in the Chamber of the President of the Government, Pedro Sánchez;

the Minister of the Interior, Fernando Grande-Marlaska;

the Defense Minister, Margarita Robles;

the director of the Cabinet of the Presidency of the Government, Óscar López;

the general director of the Civil Guard, María Gámez;

the general director of National Security, Miguel Ángel Ballesteros and the director of the National Intelligence Center, Paz Esteban.

All of them are asked to report their knowledge of the case of massive espionage to politicians, lawyers, institutions and independence activists, as well as their families and close friends, and to explain the measures that are going to be taken in relation to to this case of espionage and interference through the

Pegasus and Candiru

malware .

In parallel, a good part of these forces plan to question the Government in the control session next Tuesday and Wednesday in the Senate and in Congress.

Thus, the ERC spokesman in the Lower House, Gabriel Rufián, will ask the Executive if it intends to investigate the case of espionage against pro-independence politicians, and the ERC-EHBildu senator will do the same in the Upper House, urging the Government to explain how the Ministry of Defense guarantee the defense of the fundamental rights of citizens against cases of espionage.

These requests to appear and the oral questions in the control session are added to the demand for the creation of a parliamentary investigation commission and a whole arsenal of questions with a request for a written response addressed to the Government.

Only JxCAT has registered thirty in Congress and fifteen in the Senate.

The request for appearances by the President of the Government, the Ministers of the Interior and Defense, the directors of the CNI and the Civil Guard, the director of National Security and the president's chief of staff, do not have the signature of United We Can, partner minority of the Executive, which has described the espionage case as "incompatible with democracy" but prefers to blame it on the first opposition party because the Pegasus program was bought under the mandate of Mariano Rajoy, although according to the investigations of the forensic firms Citizen Lab and Amnesty International Lab has been used at least until 2020, under the mandate of Pedro Sánchez, to spy on the independence movement.
