None of the 34 inhabitants of Vachères-en-Quint (Drôme) registered on the electoral lists voted for Emmanuel Macron or Marine Le Pen on April 10.

It is the only municipality in the department in which this situation has arisen.

In the first round of the presidential election, the villagers voted for Jean-Luc Mélenchon, reports Le Dauphiné Libéré.

A cause for pride

Of the 25 votes cast, 22 went to the candidate of La France insoumise.

Philippe Poutou (NPA), Nicolas Dupont-Aignan (DLF) and Anne Hidalgo (PS) each collected one vote.

The electoral peculiarity of Vachères-en-Quint does not leave the inhabitants indifferent.

“I am proud of my village,” commented Marie, 38.

Mayor Jaques Guilleminot described the town as “green”.

Asked about the reasons that motivated his constituents at the time of the choice in the voting booth, he highlighted the importance of purchasing power.

“Those who voted five years ago are disappointed.

[…] So they want to try something else, ”believes the chosen one.
