The Christian Democrats' party leader entered the debate on the police's actions.

- So we have at least a hundred injured policemen, and the big question that should be asked is: Why do we not have at least a hundred injured Islamists, a hundred injured criminals, a hundred injured insurgents?

says Ebba Busch in an interview with Ekot on Swedish Radio.

The statement made, among others, Minister of the Interior and Justice Morgan Johansson (S) to react strongly.

"Isn't she really smart?"

he wrote in a comment to Ekot.

Ebba Busch: Violent perpetrators decided

But Ebba Busch considers herself to have been misinterpreted.

- We have a situation where over a hundred police officers are injured, where law-abiding residents in these residential areas have seen the result of a police officer who was unfortunately forced to retire and where perpetrators decided instead, she says in Aktuellt.

She maintains that her basic question is justified.

- We know the answer in part because several police officers have been able to testify about situations where it would have been justified to shoot sharply, but they chose to refrain because, for example, they saw a pram in the spotlight.

What tools would then have been needed to regain power?

Want to see investigation

Märta Stenevi (MP) agrees with the criticism of the KD leader.

- It is a shame that Ebba Busch expresses herself in this way.

I think she owes the police an apology, she says.

- We have brave, wise police officers who have been at the forefront of this and have to make decisions in the chaotic situation to calm the situation.

That Ebba Busch goes out and criticizes this and tries to suggest that they should have shot into the crowd instead does not really belong in a state governed by the rule of law.

Ebba Busch does not agree.

- I am incredibly proud of the Swedish police, but this is an important question that needs to be asked in the investigation that the police will do, she says.
