The new news from the White House came after Thursday's meeting in Washington between Joe Biden and Ukrainian Prime Minister Denys Shmyhal.

According to Biden's staff, the leaders discussed the development of the war and the United States' continued commitment when it comes to supporting Ukraine.

Later in the day, Biden met with the press to present further military support to the country.

According to Biden, the new package is worth 800 million dollars, a figure that can be compared with the 2.6 billion dollars that the United States, according to the AP, has already sent to the Ukrainian defense during the war.

The package includes artillery pieces and ammunition.

- We send it directly to the front line of freedom, to the fearless and skilled soldiers who are in the firing line, the president said.

The delivery also includes 121 so-called "Ghost drones", reports Reuters.

According to the Pentagon, the model was developed specifically for use in Ukraine by the US Air Force, but no further details on how they work were provided by the Defense College.

In addition to weapons, the United States will also assist the Ukrainian government with an additional $ 500 million in direct funding, Biden announced.

- This is money that can be used to stabilize the economy, or to support areas destroyed by Russian attacks.

Russian ships stopped

However, financial measures were not the only ones presented in the White House on Thursday.

Biden also announced that the United States plans to port ships connected to Russia from US ports.

No ships flying the Russian flag, or operated by Russian interests, will be allowed to dock in Ukrainian ports or on our coasts.

Exactly how the stop will be designed or when it will take effect is still unclear.

Harris and Zuckerberg on the sanctions list

As the United States steps up its mark on Russia, the Kremlin's response is also growing.

Just hours after Biden announced new arms shipments, the Russian Foreign Ministry announced new counter-sanctions in the form of entry bans for another 29 US politicians, officials, journalists and business leaders.

The list includes US Vice President Kamala Harris and Facebook founder Mark Zuckerberg.
