“
We need a France that defends our common European values
, explain the three European leaders who are breaking tradition by interfering in the French presidential election.
Less than four days before a disputed election between Emmanuel Macron, a fervent defender of the EU, and Marine Le Pen, who has always been skeptical about this European Union which she wishes to profoundly modify, Pedro Sanchez, President of the Spaniard, Antonio Costa, Portuguese Prime Minister, and German Chancellor Olaf Scholz did not hesitate to take the plunge by supporting Emmanuel Macron.
The future of the European Union and its values are at stake, they explain, as the Old Continent faces a change of era.
For these leaders, Marine Le Pen is “
a candidate who stands openly on the side of those who attack our freedom and our democracy
”.
A candidate who, like other far-right European formations, has made Vladimir Putin an ideological and political model.
“
France is at the heart of the European project,
recall these three leaders,
and we need this country by our side to maintain our prosperity and our social model.
It is this France that is also on the April 24 ballot
”, they explain, before concluding: “
We hope that the citizens of the French Republic will choose it
”.
