Psaki commented on the launch of the Sarmat intercontinental ballistic missile

“They notified us in accordance with the obligations before the Strategic Offensive Arms Treaty (START-3) that they plan to test this missile.

The US Department of Defense said earlier that it does not consider the tests unfair to the US or its allies.

The time and scale of Russian missile tests will not affect our approaches to countering the Russian invasion of Ukraine, ”TASS quotes Psaki.

Answering a question during the briefing, she said that Washington did not consider the Sarmat tests as a "warning or threat" from Russia.

Earlier, the Russian Ministry of Defense reported that a successful launch of the Sarmat intercontinental ballistic missile was carried out at the Plesetsk cosmodrome from a silo.

The department noted that the new Sarmat missile is capable of hitting targets at long ranges using various flight paths. 

Russian President Vladimir Putin congratulated the Russian army on the successful launch of the Sarmat ICBM.
