According to a mining company, three people are dead and eight are missing, after a probable firedamp explosion on Wednesday in a coal mine in southern Poland which also injured around 20 people.
Following two probable explosions, 21 people were hospitalized.

"The tragic death toll from the suspected methane gas explosion at the Pniówek mine in Pawlowice is three dead," JSW said in a statement.

Polish Prime Minister expressed his condolences
Following two probable explosions, "21 people have been hospitalized. We have no contact with eight people working downstairs," JSW president Tomasz Cudny told reporters earlier, quoted by the agency. PAP.
Polish Prime Minister Mateusz Morawiecki expressed his condolences to the families of miners.
According to the company, a first alleged explosion took place shortly after midnight at a depth of 1,000 meters.
Forty two miners were at the site of the explosion and most of them suffered burns.
A second explosion took place during the rescue operation affecting the rescuers.
The search was suspended due to poor conditions underground, JSW said in a statement released around 9:30 a.m. local time (0730 GMT).
