Human skulls in a river in Iraq

Video clips circulated on social media platforms sparked a wave of fear and controversy in Iraq, and documented these clips of human skulls floating in one of the rivers of a river in eastern Iraq.

According to activists and local media, the video filmed in the Diyala River in eastern Iraq belongs to a group of fishermen who found human skulls while they were hunting.

According to a tweet by the Iraqi Observatory for Human Rights, these skulls may belong to the sectarian war between 2006-2007 or to one of the liquidations carried out by the terrorist organization "ISIS" or other armed groups.

The Iraqi authorities have not yet issued any clarification on what appeared in the video.
