It is about a completely new industry - electric vehicles.

Vehicles for traveling on land, in the water and in the air.

There are odd products such as electric surfboards and "flying cars", but of course also more traditional vehicles such as cars, boats and aircraft that are electrified.

With the help of the Swedish Agency for Economic and Regional Growth and their database, SVT has identified the electrified vehicle industry.

It consists of 39 companies.

Together, they have a total value of approximately SEK 225 billion.

- I think it is a combination of industrial background, technical competence and then a willingness to change quickly.

This is what Enny Keisu, who is the CEO of the electric boat company Xshore, says, are the reasons for the explosion of electric vehicle companies right now in Sweden.

"Ecosystem" around electric mobility

Anders Forslund, who is CEO of the electric aircraft manufacturer Heart Aerospace in Gothenburg, believes that an "ecosystem" has been created around electric mobility in Sweden.

He points out the local breadth of activities around his own company:

- We are a few kilometers from Volvo Cars and Polstar's head office.

There they will also build a new battery factory with Northvolt.

Swedish electro mobility test lab is also being built here in Säve.

Heart Aerospace so far has only one scale model of its aircraft in the hangar in Säve in Gothenburg, but has already received a breakthrough order for two hundred real aircraft for the American airline United Airlines.

According to the plans, Heart will have a plane in the air in two years.

Series production is planned from the year 2026, and just like Xshore, it will take place in Sweden.

- The aircraft is like a contract construction kit that comes from various manufacturers all over the world.

Our goal is to have the final assembly in Sweden, says Anders Forslund who is CEO of Heart Aerospace.

Bends sheet metal according to origami technique

But in the new electric drive, it is not just a matter of removing a fossil engine and replacing it with an electric one.

The electric scooter manufacturer Stilride in Stockholm has its own ideas about production to reduce the environmental footprint.

The company bends the sheet metal to its scooter with the Japanese paper folding technology origami as a model.
