The unannounced visits were made after the National Food Administration drew the municipality's attention to misleading labeling on food in the chain's stores in other places in the country.

During two visits made in April, several errors were discovered in the store in Falun.

Among other things, meat of various kinds has been relabelled and given new best-before dates.

The ribs have been relaunched as a grill club, and an inspection of the meat's original packaging revealed that the best-before date had passed by one week.

- We take what happened seriously.

We are happy that this has been noticed and we have unfortunately had a lack of routines, says the store manager in Falun, Peter Jansson.

He also says that the routines have been reviewed and improved so that this can not happen again.

Fish got longer dates

During the inspection, information must also have emerged from staff that the best-before date for fish has also been extended.

According to that information, fish should usually have a best-before date of six to seven days when it arrives at the store, but that it then changes to nine days.

During the inspection, there were no fish packages left to check.
