Rasmus Paludan should be denied permission to hold more demonstrations.

This is the opinion of the municipality of Norrköping, which on Tuesday stated that an appeal had been sent to the police to stop Paludan's future applications.

- Due to these incidents, the police should not allow more gatherings, said municipal director Anna Thörn during a press conference.

The municipal management in Linköping is also said to have written a letter to the police with the same request.

It is still unknown if the police responded.

Will make a decision next week

Jonas Hysing, national commander, tells SVT that the police have not yet landed in a decision on how to handle new applications from Paludan.

How likely is it that he will be denied permission?

- In any case, the probability has increased.

We will make a new assessment next week on how to handle any new applications from him.

Has been denied before

Paludan has previously been denied permission to burn the Koran in Sweden.

Most recently in September 2020, when the police referred to the security situation and the corona pandemic.

However, his Swedish citizenship has prevented the Swedish police from deciding on a ban on entry.

In later applications, he has been given the green light.

In connection with his planned meetings in Örebro and Landskrona during the Easter weekend, however, the police decided to change the places for the permits.

Despite this, violent riots broke out in both cities.

- I have previously said that it was a great failure and it still applies.

There is great frustration in the police force for not being able to protect the public, says Tomas Stjernfeldt, first vice chairman of the police union in SVT's Morgonstudion.

Want to hold new demonstrations

The police have previously pointed out the difficulty of banning the demonstrations.

Among other things, one can not deny permission with reference to the fact that previous meetings have led to unrest.

No changes in the law are relevant, the Minister of Justice Morgan Johansson (S) stated on Tuesday.

He also does not want to review the police's decision to grant Paludan a demonstration permit.

- It is the people who now do not accept that we have democracy and freedom of expression that must change - not Swedish legislation, he said.

Rasmus Paludan states that he plans to hold new demonstrations in Landskrona, Linköping, Norrköping, Örebro, Borås and Trollhättan next week.

According to the police in the southern region, no new applications have been received.

Other police regions have not responded.
